Just want to thank you for the pulse mp3s. I don't know what I'd do without pulse #9 and it virtually eliminates my symptoms (which I got a month ago). Unfortunately the results aren't permanent and nearly any other sound (music, tv, etc) will return my tinnitus to their prior levels after I stop listening, but they do last awhile when I'm in a quiet environment. This makes it perfect for right before going to sleep and also for when waking up.

For anyone looking to create your own tones, I'd recommend Audacity (free software). http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Hi Rob,

I am suffering from a high pitch tinnitus for three weeks. It has been driving me insane so I searched a lot on the internet for options, treatment suggestions, pc software, ipad apps, etc. Nothing seemed to really work (besides masking the tinnitus slightly). When I found your application I gave it a skeptic try and, miraculously, it seems to work! Interestingly, I get different results with different tones. I started with #1 which brought relief for a few seconds only. However #9 has been the best for me by far at this point, it has been over 15 minutes now and my tinnitus is reduced by roughly 80%! I am almost crying of relief! I know my tinnitus will probably come back strong, the war is not over but this feels like a first battle against this evil sound has been won!

Thank you so much, you have given me hope and that is priceless.

Hi Chris0
It Just goes to show that everybody T is different -- I have been off the pop all this month and my T sadly is top volume -- I know that if I have a drink that it would give me temporary relief by reducing the volume -- but next morning it would be back with a vengeance.

Its good to hear that your your getting back on your feet -- I think the the best way at the moment to fight T is to make sure your your mind body and spirit are in tip top condition -- keep it going .......

Hi Chris and Jim
Chris -- thanks for suggestion ... feedback taken on board -- if I make a version 2 of this app I will incorporate this feature ...

Jim..I made this sounds myself and they are not based on the neoromonics ones -- I use these sounds when I need a bit of relief from T when it is getting me down -- I don't use them every day-- I don't mix them with music at all because I just use the tones on their own.
Thanks for commenting.

I wanted to post on here just to chime in with some more anecdotal evidence about alcohol and tinnitus. For me, there is absolutely no doubt that it made it much worse.

My tinnitus appeared out of the blue. One night when I was trying to get to sleep I noticed it, and it actually took me about 5 minutes to realise that it was coming from my ear and not the fan from my laptop or something like that. It started to get me very depressed and I essentially turned into a 'functional' alcoholic (I could show up for work the next day and hide the fact that I was hungover and also perform reasonably) for about 4 or 5 months as I was drinking due to depression and helping with sleeping at night.

Before I started drinking heavily, I had tinnitus in both my ears, but generally the noise in my right ear was much louder than the noise in my left. I should clarify what I mean by heavy drinking. I was polishing off half bottles of cheap whiskey nearly every night, straight from the bottle, no mixer, sometimes even having a few pints in a pub before hand. It even got to the stage that just a half bottle wouldn't get me drunk enough. When I started drinking a lot, the noise in my left ear would fluctuate in volume all the time, and a lot of times it was so loud that it would completely drown out the noise from my right ear. After about 4 or 5 months of alcohol abuse, I eventually developed that loud noise in my left ear permanently for about 2 and a half weeks (normally it would disappear after a day or so).

I decided that no matter what, no matter how difficult it was for me to sleep, that I was going to quit drinking. I was sick of going into work feeling like shit every day and it was essentially just making me more depressed.

After I had stopped drinking, only 2 days later, the really loud noise in my left ear reverted back to the very quiet noise that it was originally and I could now hear the noise in my right ear again.

Before the tinnitus and my heavy drinking, I was a really keen runner, I would go out 5 or 6 days a week. I decided to get back into that again, and I'm now trying to lose all the weight I put on in those 4 or 5 months (being hungover all the time led to bad eating habits too). I went to see someone I knew who had a degree in alternative and herbal therapies and medicines, and she has given me B vitamins to take and also 2 bottles of alcohol (not like drinking alcohol) based herb solutions that seem to be helping me quite a lot. One of them I take before bed and the other I have 3 times a day with meals. I mask out the tinnitus with a fan that I put beside my bed. I always slept on my side, so I had to learn how to sleep on my back because I can't put my ear against a pillow as I can hear the tinnitus when I do that. Getting all the exercise and taking the medication gets me a lot more relaxed at night so that I can get 5 or 6 hours sleep. It hasn't made the noise in my right ear get any less loud, it's just more that I'm a lot more relaxed mentally and physically at night.

Last night, after a month of not drinking at all, I had a 4 or 5 pints with a mate in the pub, and when I got up this morning, lo and behold, a noise has returned to my left ear. It is nowhere near as loud as when it was after my severe alcohol abuse, but it seems undeniable that alcohol very badly affects my tinnitus.

Obviously it's going to vary person to person, but my advice would be, if you've been using alcohol to get to sleep at night, try really hard to quit doing that and lead a much more healthy lifestyle generally. Exercise, eat well, cut out caffeine and all the usual advice, and sleeping and relaxation will come more naturally.

Drinking every night will never help (with anything) in the long run.

Well, that's just my personal story anyway.

For people with tinnitus that is so bad that you can't use a masker to drown out the noise when you're sleeping, you have my genuine sympathy. Hopefully some day in the near future, somebody will find a cure for this truly horrendous disease.

Hello Rob from the State of Minnesota...

Your site seems pretty cool...

Are the sounds you have on this site like the ones that those who claim "Neuromonics Treatments" will stop this horrible sound we suffer with?

Of course, these "Neuromonics Specialists" claim that they will make "Custom" sounds to add in the background to the music that you listen to, and this will "Stop the ringing" in our ear/s.

Being a musician, I've only been able to figure out that the horrible sound in my ears is in the Key of C, a very high C, and it's pretty close to the #9 that you have on your site.

If you can, please respond to me and let me know if you have used any of your sounds in music that you listen to. I'm curious also if anyone else has done so. Naturally, the people that "Sell" the "Neuromonics Treatment Music Devices" are gouging the desperate people that pay them EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES!

Perhaps, however, the high gouging price may be worth it, especially when I look at the lying scumbags like "T-Gone" and "Arches Formula" and the real dirt-bag "Drummer" at "Quietus." These scumbags all "Promise" results, but as I'm sure that you and probably all readers of this blog know, they are lying scumbags that gouge desperate sufferers of T.

I commend you Rob for trying to do something to help all of us that suffer with this T thing. By the way, I told an ENT doctor here in Windom/Jackson, Minnesota, that he should be ashamed of himself for trying to hock the "Arches Formula Pills" that he buys from those lying scam artists on me. The main ingredients? Ginkgo Biloba and Garlic. Does it cure T like they claim? Hell no! Didn't do a damn thing but cost over $250 US dollars!

Again, kudos to you for your efforts...

Thanks, very helpful.
Is there any way that you could add an option to select the amount of time that is silent between the pulses of sound. And also how long the sound pulses are between the silence. That would be excellent.
Thank you.
